Here is the post's response to many complaints about the cartoon

“Pat Oliphant is a syndicated editorial cartoonist carried on news sites across the country. It is the nature of an editorial cartoonist to be provocative and offer up unique — and often controversial — viewpoints on the issues of the day. I have always opted for the approach that we should not limit the cartoonist’s freedom of speech. We prefer to present the cartoon and allow you, the reader, to make the choice on whether to read it or not, and to express your own freedom of speech if you’re bothered or offended by it.”

My problem is this, would they publish a cartoon that was sexist, racist, and homophobic, or is just "controversial" to make fun of christians. We can all remember the cartoon that was publish in Europe mocking Muhammed. The Islamic religion threatned vilonce. The double standerd in the media is unberable. It is said, that Patrick Henry said this in 1776 “It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great Nation was founded not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religious, but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For that reason alone, people of other faiths have been afforded freedom of worship here.” Now in 2008 the Washington Post published this
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_PQOW7WrLFr8/SNL9NlsNTwI/AAAAAAAAACM/XdH25XDcp8s/s320/po080909.gif" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5247534925737709314" />

How far have we slipped.

A Renewed Mind

youtube took the video down

Hard Hitting Reporting

Wow, they have sure nailed Sarah Palin to the wall (sarcasm) After sending 30 lawyers, and researchers to Wasilla to dig up dirt on her this is what the Obama team got:

she banned books from a library....I'm appalled
her 17 year old daughter is pregnant..what a scandal
she had her brother-in-law fired, after he taser a 10 year old...who is she to get bad people out of uniform
she supported a project ("bridge to no where") then realized it was a bad project and corrected her stance...wow someone who can admit they are wrong and be willing to change for the better of the people
her church PRAYS for people!!! Now that is just to much, I think we should kick her out of the country!! (sarcasm)

Read that list again before you go on, does it not sound very shallow. Those are the best attacks Obama can come up with? It got so bad he just decided to go back to 3rd grade and insult her saying, "you can put lipstick on a pig, but its still a pig." Well Obama I'm rubber and you are glue, whatever you say bounces off me and sticks on you.

Now lets look at Mr Obama past.

First off, we can't use his full name, Barack Hussein Obama
Here is voting record:

Aborting - on 4 bills he voted 3 "no vote" - can't make a decision.
Agriculture Issues - on 7 bills he voted 6 "no vote"

Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., was the most liberal senator in 2007, according to National Journal's 27th annual vote ratings.
Since 2005, Obama has missed work 23% of the time, which would be equivalent to you missing 55 days a year on your job, how do you think your boss would like that? Do you think he would promote you? That is what the Desperate Democrats are doing.
Now that was all the light stuff, here comes the fun stuff:
Is he christian or muslim? He gets confused, his family gets confused. I'm a life long religious person and I never get confused about my faith
He has stated that he wants to do away with the Bush Tax Cuts, but now says he may wait...can he ever stick to a decision?
For 20 years he sat silently as his minister, the radical preacher Jeremiah Wright, said he hated America — the same preacher who blamed the 9/11 attacks on OUR OWN GOVERNMENT.

The followings is from Newsmax.com
"The Ayers Connection
William Charles Ayers and Barack Obama have been friends for decades.
There is clear evidence that their lives and dealings have been intertwined for many years.
We have reason to believe that Obama and Ayers were friends way back in 1986.
They even served together in 1995 on the Annenberg Challenge, overseeing the distribution of about $50 million to area schools.
That same year, Ayers hosted Obama in his own home and donated to his campaign.
What does the association between Ayers and Obama say about Obama’s political views and perspective?
Ayers was an anti-American, traitorous radical who will stop at nothing to push his hateful communist agenda.
In the 1960s and 70s, he was a leader in the notorious underground terrorist group, the “Weathermen.”
The Weathermen declared war on the United States government and they bombed over 30 establishments (leading to multiple fatalities, including police officers).
Obama's friend Bill Ayers
“Kill all the rich people. Break up their cars
and apartments. Bring the revolution home,
kill your parents, that’s where it’s really at.”
William Ayers
Ayers is unapologetic about his terrorist activities.
Incredibly, on Sept. 11, 2001, Ayers is quoted by The New York Times as saying, “I don’t regret setting bombs … I feel we didn’t do enough.”
How could a man like Obama associate with such a dangerous radical? And even defend him?"

Now, what seems more serious...banning books, or supporting terrorist?

Vote Integrity 2008

Can You Buy The White House?

Both McCain and Obama promised to abided by the Campaign Finance limits, which simply says you can only take so much money. The point of the Finance reform was to keep rich people from buying the White House. John McCain is still abiding by the Finance rules, letting the American people decided, but Mr Obama has once again changed his mind. He was talking about his faith and used the words, "my muslim faith." Now I'm not saying he is or is not a muslim, but what concerns me is that a nation that was founded on "in God we trust" is promoting a man who is obviously confused about his religion. Matthew 15:18 says, "But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man 'unclean." He may not have meant to say it publicly, but it came from his heart.

After 9/11 and the attacks on our nation, the beheading of American men, the suicide bombers that have taken American lives, all done by radical muslims, we are at a place in our nations history where we might possibly elect a man named Barack Obama.

The media has told us we can't use his middle name, we can't talk about his past connections with Saudi Arabia, known terrorists, and preachers that preach hate, not the "good news of christ," but lets talk about Sarah Palin's church that is openning its doors to gay's to pray for them and believe that God would deliever them from the spirit of homosexuality. Lets talk about Sarah Palins family, but please don't talk about Obama.

In this election we have an opportunity to promote a women that believes in the bible, lives by the bible, and stands by the bible. Is she perfect? NOPE, are you? She is the most grounded christian political leader that we have. I can bank on one thing, she would never refer to her faith as "muslim faith." Why? Jim is a former pastor and Casper (last name) is an atheist. Together they visited mega churches around the US and wrote about their experience. Here is a eye opening comment on worship.

[Jim: “On a scale of 1 to 5, how do you rate the music?”]

Two stars. That’s all I can do for you here.

For presentation and professionalism, they get a 4 or a 5, but the music is too contrived, too slick, too professional, really.

[Jim: “But that’s a good thing, no? That should attract people, right?”]

Maybe people who like American Idol. I mean, don’t get me wrong. I see the entertainment value, but when it comes to music, I like it pure. Too much polish and you lose the heartfelt power, you lose the soul of the music, and you’re not going to move anyone.

That blew my mind as I read that. How often do we in Pentecost focus SOOOO much on "professionalism" when what people really need is for our music to be "pure." What Casper is really saying to me is simple, without the anointing all of our professional music is worthless!

We like to be professional, because it makes us feel good. My church music rocks! We have the best band, talented singers, professional musicians, but do we have the anointing?

Where is the "heartfelt power" of our music. Do we have the anointing, or do we have professionalism? I've been chewing on this for about 2 weeks.

the good, the bad, and the redeemed

Kids Kamp 2008 is over! What a year it was. I have been a part of kids kamp for 10 years and this year was one of the greatest kamps we have ever had. I'm a little partial, b/c 7 of New Life's kids got the Holy Ghost. To be honest I was a little skeptical that they would get the holy ghost, boy was I wrong :) It wasn't that the SALT team was so good, or the music was so good, or the preaching was so good, it was simply the expectations of those kids. They expected to get the Holy Ghost. I think to often as young preachers, we think that if we don't have the lights, smoke, and crazy music young people want respond, but we must remember its not us, our methods, or our creative ideas that save people, its God. Don't get me wrong, I love lights, smoke, wild music and all that, but I don't think its what brings changes. It makes us feel like rock stars, but all we need is God. I watched this week as G.A. Mangun at 89 talk to kids and they listen, no smoke, no lights, no video, just God. I believe we should use relevant methods and keep the changing message, but if push comes to shove, give me the message, you take the methods.

Kamp was awesome and I can't wait till next year.

Remember Jesus

How often do we forget Jesus. In a world that requires us to remember so much, pin numbers, account numbers, home computer passwords, office passwords, voicemail passwords, email passwords, parents birthdays, kids birthdays, friends birthdays, your own birthday. How easy is it for us to simply forget.

We all have done it, forget a birthday (I've made a decision to give my wife an entire week, so I never forget the day), forget an anniversary, forget your password, lock yourself out of your computer and have to call tech support. We all forget.

How easy it is to forget Jesus. Forget that He is not just our buddy, but our savior. Forget that is not just nice, but that all creation trembles at his voice, forget that he is not just our friend, but that He is our savior.

Take some time today to get to know Him again. Know what makes his heart beat, know what makes him happy, and know who he is.

Remember Jesus

How does Obama get away with this stuff?

This is an article I read from Michelle Malkin:

All it takes is one gaffe to taint a Republican for life. The political establishment never let Dan Quayle live down his fateful misspelling of "potatoe." The New York Times distorted and misreported the first President Bush's questions about new scanner technology at a grocers' convention to brand him permanently as out of touch.

But what about Barack Obama? The guy's a perpetual gaffe machine. Let us count the ways, large and small, that his tongue has betrayed him throughout the campaign:

-- Last May, he claimed that tornadoes in Kansas killed a whopping 10,000 people: "In case you missed it, this week, there was a tragedy in Kansas. Ten thousand people died -- an entire town destroyed." The actual death toll: 12.

-- Earlier this month in Oregon, he redrew the map of the United States: "Over the last 15 months, we've traveled to every corner of the United States. I've now been in 57 states? I think one left to go."

-- Last week, in front of a roaring Sioux Falls, S.D., audience, Obama exulted: "Thank you, Sioux City. ... I said it wrong. I've been in Iowa for too long. I'm sorry."

-- Explaining last week why he was trailing Hillary Clinton in Kentucky, Obama again botched basic geography: "Sen. Clinton, I think, is much better known, coming from a nearby state of Arkansas. So it's not surprising that she would have an advantage in some of those states in the middle." On what map is Arkansas closer to Kentucky than Illinois?

-- Obama has as much trouble with numbers as he has with maps. Last March, on the anniversary of the Bloody Sunday march in Selma, Ala., he claimed his parents united as a direct result of the civil rights movement:

"There was something stirring across the country because of what happened in Selma, Ala., because some folks are willing to march across a bridge. So they got together and Barack Obama Jr. was born."

Obama was born in 1961. The Selma march took place in 1965. His spokesman, Bill Burton, later explained that Obama was "speaking metaphorically about the civil rights movement as a whole."

-- Earlier this month in Cape Girardeau, Mo., Obama showed off his knowledge of the war in Afghanistan by homing in on a lack of translators: "We only have a certain number of them, and if they are all in Iraq, then it's harder for us to use them in Afghanistan." The real reason it's "harder for us to use them" in Afghanistan: Iraqis speak Arabic or Kurdish. The Afghanis speak Pashto, Farsi or other non-Arabic languages.

-- Over the weekend in Oregon, Obama pleaded ignorance of the decades-old, multi-billion-dollar massive Hanford nuclear waste cleanup:

"Here's something that you will rarely hear from a politician, and that is that I'm not familiar with the Hanford, uuuuhh, site, so I don't know exactly what's going on there. (Applause.) Now, having said that, I promise you I'll learn about it by the time I leave here on the ride back to the airport."

I assume on that ride, a staffer reminded him that he's voted on at least one defense authorization bill that addressed the "costs, schedules, and technical issues" dealing with the nation's most contaminated nuclear waste site.

-- Last March, the Chicago Tribune reported this little-noticed nugget about a fake autobiographical detail in Obama's "Dreams from My Father":

"Then, there's the copy of Life magazine that Obama presents as his racial awakening at age 9. In it, he wrote, was an article and two accompanying photographs of an African-American man physically and mentally scarred by his efforts to lighten his skin. In fact, the Life article and the photographs don't exist, say the magazine's own historians."

-- And in perhaps the most seriously troubling set of gaffes of them all, Obama told a Portland crowd over the weekend that Iran doesn't "pose a serious threat to us" -- cluelessly arguing that "tiny countries" with small defense budgets can't do us harm -- and then promptly flip-flopped the next day, claiming, "I've made it clear for years that the threat from Iran is grave."

Barack Obama -- promoted by the Left and the media as an all-knowing, articulate, transcendent Messiah -- is a walking, talking gaffe machine. How many more passes does he get? How many more can we afford?

Political Thought

My Huckabee for President was a fun ride, but it has officially ended.

The recent news regarding Barack and his "spiritual adviser" (his words) has really aggravated me. I email Barack after Huckabee was done, and asked some questions from an undecided voter, I never received a response, only his "vote for change" junk. My problem is simple with his pastor. You can say what you want, believe what you want, that is the great things about America. But you must be held to the same standard as everyone else. If my church put on our webstie that we were "unashamedly white" what would be the response (especially if I was running for office.) If our pastor stood in the pulpit and bashed Barack, how fast would the IRS strip our "tax free" exemption? As quick as Barack uses the word "change." Also, Huckabee was crucified for saying the following, "we need to take our nation back for Christ." Yet Obama gets a pass when his pastor says "God D!*n America." I don't know if Obama is a rasist, I do know that his pastor is. I know this by his words. How is a "three strike" policy a bad thing? Do we keep letting people do bad things because they are a certain color? Bad is bad, regardless of race. If a white gets three strikes he is out, if an Asian does, same thing and so on.

Jeremiah Wrigth blames the problems in the black community on "three strike policy" and more "jails being built." I blame all problems on peoples lack of responsibility for their actions. You can be an atheist, but you will be held responsible by God, you can be murder but you will be held responsible by the law (or should), we live in a county with no responsibility. We only want to do what makes us happy. Life is not always happy, and it is not always fair. Grow up and get over it. Life is hard, tough, and hurts, but God is good!

Go McCain 2008. The old sucker might just pull of the victory after all :)

25%

Sorry to all 2 people that read this blog. It has been a while since my last blog. Here is a quick recap of my life the past couple of months.

God's has been good, life has been rough! For the last 10 years I have given everything I have to 50 young people, sometimes more, sometimes less. The last year it was been a struggle to keep the faith that the "tears will not overcome the wheat." I have had one young person that grew up wanting to be like me, now totally shutting me out. Other young people that I stood by as they struggled with friends, relationships and person situations, now tune my voice completely out, choosing to listen to others who do nothing but deceive and eventually destroy. I have given my time, energy, and my heart to these young people, and all I show is about 25% return on my investment. Now before you feel sorry for me, I have gotten over the sad stage and now into the rejoicing stage. The 75% that have tuned me our, blocked me, and simply ignored my advice have simply made a choice. One that I can't make for them, but would love to. They are living in a world that is "twisted." To them they are making sense, to everyone else they are completely lost. Don't cry :) I'm not. I have studied the ministry of Jesus even more as of late, and I found that out of the 12 he HAND picked, he lost 1. Even He could not win them all. In his parable of the seeds, he only kept 25% of the seed. This blew my mind, because that is the exact percent that I have kept as a youth pastor. In the parable, Jesus rejoiced over the 25%. That is become my new passion. To rejoice over the 25%. Those that are passionate about their relationship with God, passionate about their worship, passionate about their church, and passionate about their pastor. I believe in pastoral authority, holiness, worship, my church, my city, and my God. The TEARS will not overcome the WHEAT!

Mike Huckabee

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_PQOW7WrLFr8/Rt8EUHe6iHI/AAAAAAAAABU/3wnfBxSVJRU/s320/huckabee_ad_vote.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5106805246114039922" />
Mike Huckabee is a pro-family fiscal conservative who is strong on defense.

Mike Huckabee: A Pro-life, Pro-Surge, Pro-fair tax, Pro-gun, etc, etc, etc.

Mike Huckabee has remained consistently conservative throughout his entire political career.

Mike Huckabee: There are no “Youtube” moments for Mike Huckabee. Did you know the first labor day took place on September 5, 1882. Which is a good thing. The sad thing is labor day symbolizes the last day of summer, I love summer. What I've always wondered though is where the rule "no white after labor day" came from. The reasons I found are: 1.) White reflects sunlight so therefor it keeps you cooler, and why would one want to be colder in winter?!?! (duh)...thats my favorite dumb reason. 2.)In the late 19th century alot of people where entering the middle classes. Well, they didnt know anything about the standards of high society, so they were given specific rules to follow in order to fit in. Thats just plain mean!! 3.) Apparently to southerners its just rude and total bad manners to wear white before easter. I dont think it bothers me, but hey thats just me. I dont really care for any of these reasons, so I say WEAR WHATEVER YOU WANT PEOPLE! Have a great labor day and don't work to hard :)

-Leisha

My Fear

This has been on my mind for about 2 months now, so I thought I would share it to the world (all 3 of the people that read my blog :) )

In 2008 the United States of America will vote in a new president. For the past 100 years, the President has come from either the Republican or Democratic Party, so it seems safe to assume that the same will hold form in 2008. The leading candidates for President of the USA are Hillary Clinton (D) and Rudy Giuliani (R). I know there are other people including Mitt Romney, Fred Thompson, and Barack Marx (Obama).

This is what is bothering me; the most likely two candidates will be both pro choice and pro homosexual. This is unbelievable to me, that in the USA a country founded on the word of God we will chose between two people that have no regard for His word or His principles. This is not a blog to debate beliefs, just to say that I fear for my country. What will happen in 2012? How much more will we walk away from the principles of God? Hillary also wants socialized medicine and basically a socialist government. This was a country founded on capitalism and the Word of God, both are being abandoned in 2008. It is really sad to see this wonderful country destroy itself. My Grandpa lost his dad at 3 and mom at 11, yet he worked his tail off to make something of himself, including picking cotton, sharecropping, and welding. He got his GED in his 40's and became a productive citizen of society. My Grandmother father died at 13 and was raised by her mom as she worked multiple jobs to provide for her family. The government did not give her anything and she did not expect them to. She worked HARD! In today's society b/c of all the social programs, when tragedy hits and people have their backs against a wall, what do they do? They turn to the government, not to hard work.

My fear is simple, I'm afraid that this great country I love, is continuing to ignore God and His principles and that is a dangerous road to travel. Lets make a difference in 2008 and vote in accordance to Gods word and turn the tied.

Mike Huckabee 2008

My baby is growing up...

My lil Maggie girl is growing up...I don't know if I should be happy or sad. If i were the rule maker back then...eight day weeks would be the way to go. This sparked my interest. so i looked into it.......but searching for a reason to have a day all to myself, i realized there is someone way more important who needs a day...

So Sunday, to christians, is God's day, a day of rest. Yet ironically, the name Sunday has nothing to do with God. It's named after the sun, because the romans wanted to show their respect for the sun by letting it have the first day of the week...whats up with that? They should of given us ten day weeks just to make up for that dumb decision...

Ok, u thought sunday was named for a retarded reason...listen to monday. since the sun was honored, nobody wanted the moon to get jealous so they had to pay their respect to the moon as well. Also, it's referred to as the blue day. Nobody for sure knows why, but the reason i liked was that blue is associated with depression. And since monday begins the work week, don't we all get a lil depressed?

Tuesday has a long drawn out story...basically it was named after the Roman god of war, Mardi....like Mardi Gras, fat tuesday....funny how so far none of these names have anything to do with the one and only true GOD.

Wednesday, another day named after a false god, Odin. He was the chief god of Asgard so i guess he must have deserved a day too....Wednesday also called hump day...awkward...its the "middle of the week" day

Moving along...Thursday named after the god of thunder..dont know why, probably another boring story, but i like thursday because Thanksgiving is always on a thursday...yummy

TGIF...the most favorite, popular, and looked forward to day of the week (is that a fragment?) anyway, named after Frigga (Odin's wife). She was the goddess of marriage, to the Romans named after the goddess of beauty. This is the first day named after a female....and who doesnt love fridays??

Saturday, named after a roman festival. It is a day free of work...thats always good....

So, seven days. None of which were named after the actual God who worked the first six days and rested the seventh. None even mention respect to the real God who created these crazy roman people. Nobody even honored the awesome God who started it all, invented the day in the first place. Not fair huh. So i vote we have an eighth day completely named after our amazing, awesome, powerful creator...tell me what you think? what should it be called??

-Leisha

Just a Thought

In the early 80's Pepsi started the "Pepsi Challenge." Up until then, Coke had completely destroyed Pepsi in drink sells. Side not, if you are from the south everything is a coke. Do you want a coke? Yes, I will take a Dr Pepper, everything is a coke first. I digress. After the Pepsi Challenge, Coke begin to lose its control of the market. In response to their decline, they created "New Coke" and it was HORRIABLE! As Coke studied the "Pepsi Challenge" they fcund out that the reason Pepsi won on a sip test, was that it was sweeter than Coke, but when Coke and Pepsi were sent home, Coke always out lasted Pepsi and people would chose Coke for the long haul.

My point is this, this world can be fun for a moment (a sip test) but in the end you are left with nothing (coming down from a sugar rush). Jesus is the real deal, His ways will lead you to a life you can only dream of (John 10:10). No one ever says I hated living for God after 20 yrs, but many people regreat a moment of sin (Drugs, Alchool...)

Jesus is the REAL Deal and He has lasting power, chose JESUS

My First Post

Ok, here goes. Welcome to my blog and I hope you enjoy my thoughts (what little there are).

We just came back from our annual youth retreat and it was awesome. Ryan and Shari Dean were our special guest and they did an unbelievable job of connecting with the youth group. If you have never been to theRevolutions youth retreat, you are missing out on an incrediable experience.

Me and the youth staff took 50 students to Gatlinburg, TN and went white water rafting, which was an experience in itself. I was so proud of our youth group as they showed that you can be crazy (BARBARA!!!) and also still be passionatly in love with God.

My most memoriable time at this year retreat, was the transition from crazy fun, to crazy moves of God. We went from watching the Saints game into powerful moves of God, in minutes.

With as much pride as I can have, theRevolution is the greatest youth group in the WORLD and I'm privalaged to be their Student Pastor.
